It is a day to recognize their patriotism, courage, and the sacrifices they have made for their country.

Our mission is to support organizations important to the band and the community that supports them. Through fundraising and community initiatives, White Light Foundation works to assist various charitable organizations and community causes.

Founded in 2015, White Light Foundation evolved naturally from a community focused on self-improvement through service and community contributions. These ideals led White Light Foundation to the belief that assisting and helping others not only strengthens our community but reinforces our best internal values. We strive to represent the best of a musically inspired community as we encourage others to make a difference and love relentlessly.

White Light Foundation is administered completely by volunteers. No “employee” of the organization is paid for their efforts; rather, we are remunerated by the knowledge that we are contributing to something bigger than ourselves.

Friends of the Castleton Library presents Pub Science. This week's presentation is Actually, a Little Good News with Bill McKibben, renowned environmentalist, activist and author. Our climate and our democracy are melting down, says Bill McKibben, who was one of the first to sound the alarm about the climate crisis. But he insists the moment is also full of possibility. Energy from the sun and wind is suddenly the cheapest power on the planet and growing faster than any energy source in history. If we can keep accelerating the pace, we have a chance. There’s no guarantee we can make this change in time, but it’s our best hope for rewriting our scientific, economic and political future.

The winner of the $50,000 Rutland South Rotary Grant is Habitat for Humanity of Rutland County Vermont.

For more than 50 years, the Rutland South Rotary Club has raised thousands of dollars to benefit nearly 100 non-profit organizations both locally and globally. With a strong focus on local youth-centered programs, the club has distributed hundreds of dictionaries to third graders, enhanced the Rutland Creek Path for bikers and walkers, built an outdoor play area for students at Northwest School, and provided essential school supplies to children in need. And that’s just the beginning.

Recognizing that significant needs remain in our community, and in honor of our 50th anniversary milestone, the club is making a bold commitment: awarding a $50,000 grant to a non-profit serving Rutland County.

Since the 2005 inception of Wheels for Warmth by now Governor Phil Scott, the Wheels for Warmth program has accomplished three things:
- Recycling or reselling unwanted/unused vehicle tires. Keeping them out of Vermont streams and roads.
- Providing road-safe tires at an affordable price to Vermonters (VT Department of Motor Vehicles are on-site to verify tires that are sold will pass inspection).
- All funds from tires sales and recycling fees are donated to the Emergency Heating fund to be distributed throughout Rutland County to help folks who need it heat their home.
